See Me launches anti-stigma learning and knowledge exchange sessions
Posted by See Me, 22 July 2025
Sharing learning and success stories is at the heart of successful anti-stigma work – which is why this summer, we’re launching a new series of events to inspire and inform anti-stigma champions across Scotland.
The monthly Anti-Stigma Sessions will showcase some of the work that individuals, communities and partners are taking forward to reduce stigma and discrimination in Scotland – kicking off with a session on public mental health stigma later this month.
The mission to end stigma doesn’t lie solely with See Me – across Scotland, people, communities and organisations are doing a great deal to tackle stigma and making a real impact.
The Anti-Stigma Sessions will share learning from projects and research across Scotland from See Me, volunteers, our partners and supporters.
We’ll be profiling leaders in the anti-stigma space, sharing innovation and critical thinking, encouraging people to take action against stigma and featuring lived experience throughout.
Open to anyone with an interest in exploring mental health stigma and discrimination, its impact and how we can tackle it, the free sessions will explore a range of topics including intersectional mental health stigma, using the arts to tackle stigma and much more.
31 July 2025 – Public mental health stigma in Scotland
The series will be launching on Thursday 31 July at 11am with a focus on public mental health stigma.
We’ll be joined by guests from Bipolar Scotland and VOX Scotland to find out more about public mental health stigma – where it stems from, what it looks like, and what you can do to combat it.
Bipolar Scotland’s Maja Mitchell-Grigorjeva and VOX Scotland’s Natalie Stevenson will share their take on the nature and scale of the issue and the impact it has on the people they work with and support, as well as sharing their learning and what they feel needs to change across society to address mental health stigma and discrimination.
See Me director Wendy Halliday said: “I’m really excited for the months ahead to share some of the fantastic work we at See Me and our partners and supporters are undertaking to tackle the issue of stigma.
“The Anti-Stigma Sessions will provide those playing a key role in anti-stigma work in Scotland with an opportunity to share their learning, innovation and impact – and encourage others to get on board with the movement to end mental health stigma and discrimination.”
Keep an eye on the See Me events page for updates on future sessions.
