Calling all young people!

Posted by See Me, 27 January 2023

Are you aged 16 to18?  Would you like to help schools create environments where pupils can speak to peers and adults whenever they struggle with their mental health, without fear of not been taken seriously or being judged?

See Me and award-winning film production company Media Coop are looking for six young people from across Scotland to take part in the creation of a series of short films exploring:

  • Why it is important to create a school environment where pupils can speak about their mental health with peers and adults
  • What gets in the way of young people having open and honest conversations about their mental health in school
  • What schools can do to support open and honest conversations about mental health.

You don’t need to be an expert in mental health to take part – we are looking for people with an interest and passion to share their thoughts and ideas to help develop some exciting new videos for See Me.

Filming will take place on Sunday 5 March 2023. You don’t have to have previous experience on camera either. We understand that this may feel a bit scary but we’re here to help. We’ll provide support to prepare you ahead of the filming day so you feel informed about what it will include, and comfortable on the day.

We recognise that young people already face considerable time pressures in their lives, such as school, college, employment and/or commitments as a young carer, and would like to reward and recognise participants for their contributions by gifting each young person involved in the filming with a £50 high street voucher, which can be used with multiple retailers. We will also cover any reasonable travel expenses to and from the filming location.
