Artist Opportunity with Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival

Posted by See Me, 5 October 2017

The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival (SMHAF) and See Me wish to commission an artist to create a new piece of work on the theme of Health and Social Care (H&SC). The commissioned work will be showcased as part of the SMHAF programme in May 2018.

Artists across all disciplines are invited to submit a proposal by Tuesday 17th October at 5pm.

The commissioned artist will work with a community group, based in Paisley, to develop the work, in close consultation with SMHAF and See Me. The work must have Health and Social Care as its theme and must take place in Paisley. We are currently open to all art forms and artists.

The commissioned piece will engage with those who work in H&SC setting and those that receive H&SC care services, and map people’s experiences of stigma and discrimination through art. The work will be created between November 2017 and the end of March 2018, and be showcased as part of SMHAF in May 2018. The commissioned artist will be paid a fee of £9600, based on a suggested schedule of 2 days a week over an 8 month period.

Proposals, including a CV, references and examples of previous work (either web links or attachments) should be sent to galdam@mentalhealth.org.uk by 9am by Tuesday 17th October at 5pm.
