Paths for All

We're delighted to be teaming up with Paths for All this year, to get people out walking and talking about mental health.

We have partnered with Paths for All previously, to help get people active and use walking to break down barriers to talking about mental health. Working with SAMH and Paths for All we developed the Paths for All Toolkit, a great resource with loads of ideas and tips on how to get the conversation going.

The the Walking for Health team who lead on Health Walks at Paths for All will be working with us this Time to Talk day, to get people talking about mental health, and promoting the importance of having conversations which can really make a difference.

The Health Walks are designed for those who would benefit most from doing more physical activity. This can include people who haven’t been active for a while and would like to start again, people recovering from ill health or who are managing a long-term condition and anyone who’s been told by a health professional that they would benefit from being more active.

You can find out more about walks in your area, and how to get involved, here.

Pass the Parcel Workshop

This event is happening before the day, on 26th Jan at 7pm

To get you in the mood for Time to Talk day, and to give you an idea of something you can do, join our volunteer Dawn for her Pass the Parcel workshop. The idea of Pass the Parcel is to send a parcel to someone you care about, to help their mental health, and start a conversation. When you receive a parcel you pass one on to someone else to show that it’s okay to talk about our mental health, and that it’s important to reach out to others who you think might need one.

At this workshop Dawn will show what was in the original 25 parcels and discuss how to make the items inside. They will also be a demonstration and some suggestions on how you can create your own parcel. To join please email daniella.dei@seemescotland.org.

Introduction to stress and trauma management - Tension and trauma release exercises

This session will introduce you to the theory and practice of TRE – Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises – a set of easy-to-learn exercises that has proven surprisingly effective in breaking the vicious cycle of stress and arousal. The exercises are designed to release chronic muscular tension that is held deep within the body, caused by what we have been exposed to, and thus restore wellbeing.
