'see me' welcomes launch of new Mental Health Strategy
Scotland has a new mental health strategy. For months we have held discussions, submitted thoughts, held stakeholder meetings, wondered about the emerging thoughts. So it is great to have the document and to be able to plot how ‘see me’ can make a contribution across a number of areas.
The report has a specific section on the need to end stigma and discrimination. It has encompassed ‘see me’s emerging priorities of measuring the experience of discrimination (rather than what members of the public say they think, or say they might do) and of tackling stigma within the health and social care sectors. Work has already begun on both of these areas.
The publication of this strategy will give us all lots of food for thought and ‘see me’ will be meeting with the Government soon to firm up our plans. Exciting and ambitious times lie ahead, but we are confident that this is a strategy which can be delivered.
