A collection of striking photographs taken by Malcolm Snail (Dunbar), Terence Chan (Edinburgh) and Tommy Black (Lanarkshire)  have won top prizes in the first ever national 'see me' photography competition.

The images were overall winners in the competition's three categories:  'Mentally Positive', which illustrated positive mental health and recovery, 'Through Thick and Thin' which showed the support that people experiencing mental health problems receive from family and friends,  and the 'People's Choice' category, voted for by members of the public on the 'see me' website www.seemescotland.org. Over 1000 entries from across Scotland were received for the competition and the winners will go on to enhance their existing photography skills at a professional masterclass with a well known Scottish photographer. 'see me' Campaign Director, Suzie Vestri said:

"The quantity and quality of entries received for the photography competition was really impressive.  The winning images really struck a chord with the judges and were excellent in capturing positive mental health and the support that people receive from their friends and family when experiencing mental health problems."

"The competition has helped reinforce the fact that the one in four people in Scotland who experience mental health problems at some point in their lives, need support and understanding as part of their recovery.   If you know someone experiencing mental health problems you don't have to have all the 'right' answers; simply talking and listening shows you care and can make a real difference."
